So of late we have been hearing a lot about these p-notes,so it is the right time to learn something about them.P-notes or participatory notes as they are called are actually the instruments or means which are issued by the registered Foreign Institutional Investors(FIIs) to  overseas  investors  to  invest  in the stock  markets  without registering themselves with the market regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India(SEBI).The investments through these p-notes are simple and hence are  so popular. They actually bring nearly half of all the FII money into the stock markets. The FIIs  are not bound to disclose the details of their clients to whom they issue their p-notes,unless they are asked to do so.So the identity of the actual investor remains totally anonymous under this.Hence the SEBI is  worried speculating from where this money is actually coming from, which led to the sudden spurt in the stock markets in the recent weeks, apart from many other significant reasons.SEBI has finally come out with the much awaited regulations on these p-notes on Thursday Oct,25th.
