Now its the turn of the Indian railway employees to have some cheer in the Sixth pay commission. Indian railways have decided to grant some relief in dearness allowance to all the Central govt pensioners who served the Indian railways under the 6th pay commission. The revised rates will be with effect from 01.01.2009. The Dearness Relief (DR) will now be paid to all the central govt pensioners to compensate for the ever rising cost of living which is at the rate of 22% and will be in effect from 01.01.2009 in the sixth pay commission.

This changes under the 6th pay commission scales of the pensioners will be applicable to the armed forces pensioners, defence service personnel, railway pensioners etc.Those CPF beneficiaries who had retired in between 18-11-1960 and 31-12-1985 and who are in receipt of Ex gratia at the rate of Rs 600 per month are clearly entitled to a dearness allowance @54% with effect from 1-7-2008 and at the rate of 64% which is with effect from 1.1.2009 under the revised 6th pay commission.
